The Mitzvah Project

It has become a tradition for Bar (or Bat for girls) Mitzvah students to complete a Mitzvah or community service project. For us, this Jewish value of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) is one of the most important aspects of becoming a Bar Mitzvah. Ian has been volunteering with and fundraising for Serve Our Willing Warriors (SOWW).

SOWW provides cost-free retreat stays and other programs that positively impact the lives of wounded, ill, or injured military servicemembers and disabled veterans.

Ian held a lemonade stand on July 4 at our neighborhood parade to raise funds for SOWW.

He and his friends volunteer at the SOWW Beautification Days to make the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run look beautiful and welcoming for their honored guests.
